Excel 2007 Macro Security

Hello all, I'm having problems with macros in Excel 2007. The only
way I can run macros is to have the security wide open which I know is
not good. If the setting is anything other than wide open I get this
message. "Cannot run the macro JRNL1.xls!NewJournalSheet". The Macro
may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled.
The workbook is protected, could this be a problem? Appreciate any
assistance. Thank you in advance, Ron

In the Excel 2007 Trust Center settings for Macro security level, I've been
relatively satisfied with the second option "Disable all macros with
notification". It has two behaviors depending on the location of the file
you are opening.

If it is in one of your "Trusted Locations", (also configurable through
Trust Center settings), then the file opens fully enabled with no extra steps
required.

If you open something from email attachment or a web location (or even any
local network folder you decide not to trust), then it disables the active
content, and shows a security alert at top of window. The alert has an
option button through which you can then manually enable the macros.

This is not anything like "wide open" and gives a pretty reasonable
compromise between security level and ease of use.

Hi B Lynn B... thank you for the info. Sounds like what I'm looking
for. I will give it a try today. Thanks, Ron
