excel 2007 loads file slowly, displays 'excel not responding" msg

When loading an Excel file (2003 or 2007) in Office Excel 2007 a message is
displayed reporting that Excel is not responding. It often takes 4-5 minutes
for a 2 Mb file to load. I am running Vista on 4 Mb ram with core 2 duo
~1.5mhz.

Try...

1) Disabling your virus scanner temporarily
2) Save the file as the new format (xlsx) and close and re-open file
3) Save as an *.xlsb file (faster open and calculate)
4) disable any add-ins checked and loaded with Excel
