Excel 2007 chart printing bug?

I have discovered that Excel 2007 will not print series of more than 2,709
points as scatter with smooth lines. The axes, gridlines, titles, legend,
other types of plots, etc., do print but are missing completely on the
printed page. I have tried different sets of data on more than one machine
and various printers, including the .xps printer, with the same result.

The print preview shows a correctly rendered page and the whole chart prints
if it is an object on a worksheet, but not on its own sheet.

Do you really need 2700+ points. I'm betting all you see is a line, rather
than individual points.

Yes, that's why I was using the line without points. Excel 2003 had no
problem printing scatter plots with smooth lines for thousands of points. For
the charts I am making right now, this really is not a problem. The scatter
plot with straight lines is precisely what I need.

The problem is that there was no clue that the line did not print because it
was over a limited number of points. I wasted a whole lot of time and paper
figuring this out. It would be nice to have the issue addressed by allowing
it to plot anyway or adding a warning that the data set is too large.
