Excel 2003: Lookup Table vs. Validation Table

Does anyone know if it is possible to have an Access-type Lookup Table in
Excel that fills in the field as you type - rather than just validates that
you've entered the correct data?

AFAIK this is not possible with Excel (macros can't run while you're in
Edit mode)
