What's the difference?

Amazon sells Excel 2002 for $299.99 and Excel 2003 for $189.99.

I use Excel for my household budget, budget for a small home-based business,
and an occasional spreadsheet for my daughter the attorney.

What's the difference? Why spend the extra $110.00?

I need to purchase Excel -- it's a long story.

The differences are small. It is odd that the older version is more
expensive, but I would guess that that is because 2003 is being promoted..

Buy the later, cheaper version is my suggestion.

Are you sure that they are the same version (Standard, Pro, Dev etc.). This
might account for the difference.

Dunno - not having to put up with XL03's Help system might be worth
paying the extra $110 for XL02...

how about from 2000 to 2003

Hi JE
just saw that the difference is the other way round :-)
And I agree with your evaluation of Excel's 'fantastic' 2003 help
system ;-)

Do you have any kids at school or college, as if so, you could look at the
Student and Teacher version??

Make sure one is not an upgrade if you don't have any qualifying media. If you
do have any qualifying media then take a look at the upgrade versions :-)

I just had a look on Amazon and I see the two versions you are referring to, and
I agree that that seems crazy. I had a close look and i can see no reference on
either the description or the packaging that says it is an upgrade version and I
actually found the upgrade version listed at just $90, so pretty sure it is the
full version. Given this, I just don't understand the 2002 price. If you have
kids at school though I'd still look at the S&T version and take the whole
suite.

Do you have any of the qualifying media so you can just buy the upgrade?
