You can find XLStart folders in C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel or in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office11.

Open a workbook automatically when Microsoft Excel starts

1. In Windows Explorer, move the icon of the workbook you want to open
to an alternate startup folder (alternate startup folder: A folder in
addition to the XLStart folder that contains workbooks or other files
that you want to be opened automatically when you start Excel and
templates that you want to be available when you create new
workbooks.).

If you want to keep the workbook in its current location, use the
Create Shortcut command on the File menu to create a shortcut to the
workbook, and then move the shortcut to an alternate startup folder.

2. Restart Excel.

Hope that helps!

Append /e to your shortcut.

"C:\Yourpath\to excel\excel.exe" /e

Note the space before the /e
