Excel 2002 Filters stop working

I'm using the filter function in Excel but the drop downs
stop working. Show all doesn't bring back the
functionality the only way to fix this seems to be turning
off all filters and setting up the autofilter again.

Any ideas what could be causing this and if there is a fix?

#1. Is your worksheet protected?

If it is protected, maybe you didn't set the option to enable autofilter?

#2. Have you been playing around with range names--deleting them????

Maybe you deleted one that excel likes????

Neither one of the conditions you've suggested are the
case. I've double checked to see if they got turned on by
accident.

Any other ideas?

Any chance you let xl guess at the autofilter range and it guessed way short?

I like to select my whole range and then apply Data|filter|autofilter.

(I don't have any other guesses. I hope that this was it.)

If it still doesn't work, try removing the autofilter and reapplying.
