Excel 2002 - Cant merge workbooks?

My Help file tells me to:

"On the Tools menu, click Compare and Merge Workbooks."

BUT, that line is grayed out???

What's up??

Merge Workbooks:
Combines changes from multiple copies of a shared workbook into one workbook
 
no. is there no way to merge excel files then?

Merge is pretty ambiguous.

You could copy worksheets into the same workbook.

You could copy data from two worksheets into another worksheet.

If you have a nice unique key column, you could use a bunch of =vlookup()'s to
bring values from one worksheet to another.

I think it depends on the definition of merge.
