Excel 2000

Never noticed that before: Undo and redo are unavailable after applying Auto
filter. Is this a known issue or something's wrong with my copy of Excel
(or system)?
 
Undo/Redo are greyed out in my Excel 2000 until you actually do
something that can be undone. If you set up autofilter, then this gets
reset until you change something (eg enter something into a cell).

I am talking about changes that can be undone. Not only applying autofilter
clears the undo list, but also using it. Moreover, any change I do outside
the filtered range of cells cannot be undone after applying or using
autofilter. It is reset as you put it, but why? It is of no sense, to me at
least. I found two articles in MS Knowldge Base that describe a similar
issue (no solution provided):
