How do I stop Excel opening up separate windows, eg. when
I open 4 Excel files four windows instead of one open.
Is there an option to open only one window, containing all
four S/Sheets ?

One instance of Excel or 4 separate instances?

For first case Tools>Options>View. Un-check "Windows in Taskbar.

For second case Tools>Options>General. Un-check "Ignore other applications"
and the above.
