I have a problem on a file that was recived via e-mail, when i try to open it
on excel 2000 it gives me the following error "The workbook you opened
contains automatic links to information on another workbook, do you want to
update this workbook to changes made to the other workbook" it then gives me
the option to ""update all linked information" or to "keep the existing
information

Hi

Chose the option to keep the existing information.
That will have the data at the time the file was sent to you.

If you need to have the information updated, you will need the other files
sent to you as well.

When i choose that option excel opens up but nothing happens on the screen, i
had the file sent to another PC running Excel 2000 as well and it opens the
file.could there be an Excel problem on the PC the file was sent to

Can you not get a copy of the other file - the file it is linking to?
Then it should behave exactly the same as on the source machine.
