Excel 2000 Hangs or GP Error

S

Shmendy

I'm running Excel 2000 on a Win 98 466 MHZ 64 MB RAM
machine.
When I try to open Excel 2000 I either get an out or
Resources Error, or a GP Error caused a GP in "USER.EXE"

Please help and also reply to my email address.

Use Windows Explorer to search for all files on your hard drive with a
..XLB extension. Delete any that you find. Note that this may be a hidden
file, so you'll need to set Explorer to show hidden files. Excel uses these
files to store information about toolbars, but they frequently become
corrupt and cause problems like this. Excel will create new versions of the
..XLB files it needs as soon as it starts up. Note that you will lose any
toolbar customizations that you might have made.

Search your C drive for *.XLB file
Rename Excel.XLB to Excelold.XLB
Then restart Excel program - you should see a new default
Toolbar and then you should be good to go

good luck

You're running a pretty powerful program on a very limited computer.
You might want to consider upgrading to something with a little more
oomph. WinXP with 256 megs of RAM and a 1.5 ghz processor would be perfect.

Excel is a large program that uses a lot of resources
