Exceeding use of Colors in color rules

When trying to use "Ways to Organize Inbox" "Using
Colors" get error message that You cannot add colour
becasue you have exceeded maximum number of color rules
in this folder - My Query is where does it specify how
many rules you can have and can this be changed?

How many do you have? you can't change it and it doesn't say there is a
limit anywhere -we usually discover limits by accident.

Are you in an Exchange environment? Then you are limited to 32Kb of rules.
