Everything appears in quick launch

The problem is that all my application icons have been
removed from my desktop and now appears in the quick
launch. Also I am unable to drag anything to my desktop
if I do it will appear in the quick Launch. It appears
if my dektop has been launched.

Even when I install new software it will appear in the
quick launch.

So was wonder if any one out there would have any idea of
what is happening and how to get back to having icons on
the desktop thank.

Right click a blank area on the taskbar, go to toolbars, uncheck Desktop.
