EverQuest - Lock-up

Before Vista, I did not have this problem. When my screen saver comes on, I
cannot get back to EQ. It locks up totally and most of the time I have to
restart Vista entirely to be able to play EQ - in other words, using the Task
Manager to end the program does not work.

Also, on some zone changes, I also freeze in EQ entirely.

My system:
Pentium 4 - 3.4 Ghz
1Gb Memory
GeForce 6600 w/256 Mb memory

All I have are 2 suggestions, 1. disable your screen saver. not needed, and
if you are going to be away from your computer for some time, turn the
monitor off (save some energy) 2. Try defraging the drive, you'd be surprised
at how quickly the drive can become fragmented in just a short amount of
time. I would also sugest, If you are running everquest at maximum graphics,
choke it down a bit. I run everquest 2, and don't have much trouble, other
then the opening video not playing and just being a black screen, during game
play. Tho I can not run it at balanced graphics right now. The lag is just
too horible, I have had fights, where 2 seconds in to the fight, everything
seems to freeze every other second, and then find myself dead when the fight
is over. This doesn't happen when i have it set at extreme preformance.
Again, This I would have to chalk up to the way sony implements directx 9 in
its games, as well as the current state of video drivers.
With this being a beta, you would think that ati would have faster driver
updates, last update was may 23rd. Especially when they can come out with
normal catalyst updates every month.
