Ever Slow PC, not matter what I do!

Hello,

My PC has been running very slow lately, so I went to the Task Manager to
see what was the programs which were using more memory. It just so happened
it was Windows' Svchost.exe. For the past weeks I have been always going to
Task Manager to see what was causing it to slow down, and possibly all the
time it's been the Svchost.exe.

I've posted help pleas here more than twice about this problem. Everybody
who was kind enough to respond, gave useful information, which I followed
without hesitation. Today I have loads of anti-spyware/virus softwares such
as:

AVG Anti-Virus Free
Avast! Anti-Virus Free
AVG Anti-Spyware Free
CW Shredder
Spybot
Ad-Aware SE Free
Windows Defender
Windows Malicious Software Removal
WinSock XP Fix

All these ones are weekly updated and run very frequently. I mean, I am not
a total layman about computers. I know enough to keep me going. I know every
single rule of internet usage and how to avoid this and that, etc. But still,
this Svchost.exe keeps slowing the PC down. Once I tried to termiante the
task, which I could do easily, only my sound system crashed and I had to
restart the PC. I think it might prove that the Svchost.exe is a genuine
windows program and not some masked malware.

My question is: is there a way to know why Svchost is so constantly being
run and slowing the PC down. I know it does tasks for Windows, but it does it
every hour, every now and again. It's maddening! Could someone give me a
light on this problem? :-)

First off, I'll echo what Peter has already pointed out. You
should only be running one active antivirus program. If you
have AVG and Avast running at the same time, disable or
uninstall one. I'd vote for keeping AVG.

Now as for your original problem, there are many processes
which run under svchost.exe. The first thing you need to do is
narrow down what processes are running under the instance of
svchost.exe that is causing the slowdown.

To troubleshoot this problem, you can use a tool that's similar
to Task Manager but with a lot more info. Download Process
Explorer from Microsoft. It's available here.

Process Explorer for Windows v10.21

Extract the files to a handy location, such as your Desktop,
and run procexp.exe. In Process Explorer, click on the CPU
column until the processes with the largest percentage of
processor usage are displayed at the top. Now, if your computer
starts to slow down and svchost.exe is listed near or at the
top, right click on this entry and select Properties from the
menu. In the svchost properties sheet, click on the Services
tab. If you find a process consistently showing up when your
computer slows down you can concentrate your troubleshooting in
that area.
