Event Viewer

In Administrative tools there is a problem with "Event Viewer". Even though
it is enabled in services nothing has been logged in "System" or
"Application" for several days. I have tried disabling and enabling the
event viewer with no success. Can someone point me in the right direction to
get the logging running again? I am a bit lost without it!!

Richard. Windows XP SP2.

The files are probably corrupt. Control Panel|Administrative
Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General, set the "Startup Type:" to
"Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move) the corrupt *.evt file(s)
from %systemroot%\system32\config then set the Event Log Service "Startup
Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.
