I have Windows XP Home SP3. In my Event Viewer I can see information on
Applications, Security and System. Internet Explorer is also listed here
however there is no information or items shown in this view.
Is it possible to activate this view somewhere and how do I do this?

It is already active but there are no recorded IE-related events on your
machine.

I think it this logging is fortunately turned off by default, but you
can turn the logging on by applying what you read in this link:

http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/archive/2007/01/21/508759.aspx

This link and others were found after using using google to search
for: event viewer internet explorer

If you edit the registry to try it be sure not to type iexplorer, exe -
just type iexplore.exe ;). Make it look just like the picture.

It works for me, but I did not read about what the new complaints in
the Event Log meantm and after merely launching IE you will get a
message that it is turned on. If you google the Event Viewer message
(s) some more, you can read about them - like try using google for:
internet explorer feature_enable compat_logging
and you will be all knowing.

I turned my off later by manually setting the new registry key to zero
(or just delete it) just to make sure it worked. There is just too
much junk even from just launching IE, and I don't use Internet
Explorer unless somebody forces me.

Tim Meddick pounded out on the keyboard:
It must be IE8 no? because I don't have such an item in my Event Viewer.

I only have IE6 and it's in my EV.

Terry,
So the question is: how do you get IE to log to Event Viever? I'd
really like it to do that.

Can't say. It's on most workstations I touch, so I haven't ever thought
that it might be "missing". If you're just looking for crash logs, you
can check drwtsn32.log located at:
X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson
(X being your System Drive)
