The application log is not functioning properly. It does
not display new data, but it does display old data from
earlier in the month.

The property "Overwrite events older than - 360 days" is
set and there is plenty of hard disk space.

What is causing current events to not display?

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;

Dave's probably got the right answer but you might also check the view by right-clicking the log name, then View, then make sure it says All records, and the sort selection is correct.

Just a thought.

And always try the MS KB first before posting.
The answer is probably already posted.
