Event Logs Show NO entries

My event viewer logs are completely blank, and show no
entries whatsoever. This happened after a reboot, and
has continued even after reboots. The system event
notification service is running, and stopping /
restarting the service did not fix anything. Saving the
log as a text file allow me to read it, but saving as an
event log and trying to load the file doesn't work on the
server. I can read all the event logs from another 2000
PC remotely. Any ideas?

Try issuing a disk check on the boot drive and then
rebooting to let it run
