Hi,

Desparately looking for help in fixing this duplicate name error. I've gone
as far as I can go.

We have approx. 10 servers - all are running W2K, while one is NT4. We are
not running WINS. We have a load balancer that has 2 VIP's and does NATing
for our 192.168.11.x and 192.168.20.x network.

Can this error cause networking problems, whereby you can't even ping any
server on the network even though all of the servers are up.

One thing to check is for a username that is the same as a server or
workstation name. I know this sounds wierd, but I have seen this cause
issues. Also make sure that you do not have a workstation that is the same
name as the domain or workgroup name the same as the domain.

Thanks Ozome, I'll double check. But I'm pretty sure there aren't any.

However, I do remember doing a nbtstat and there was one server that had
Administrator in the list. Is there any way of tracking that down?

Your servers should be at SP4 and check if it has the ms03-039 patch
installed.
Have a look at articles 120752 and 242053.

Hi,

I've already read these articles. Here are the facts :
- ran virus checker on all of the servers and nothing - all of the servers
have the latest patches with the exception of SP4
- not running WINS
- not running DHCP
- the Hostnames are all different
- the IP addresses are all different. Now the one thing that is the same is
the subnet:
Server #1:

IP = 192.168.11.140
subnet = 255.255.255.0

Server #2:

server
or
workstation name. I know this sounds wierd, but I have seen this
cause
issues. Also make sure that you do not have a workstation that
is
the
same
name as the domain or workgroup name the same as the domain.

Hi,

Desparately looking for help in fixing this duplicate name error.
I've
gone
as far as I can go.

We have approx. 10 servers - all are running W2K, while one is NT4.
We
are
not running WINS. We have a load balancer that has 2 VIP's and does
NATing
for our 192.168.11.x and 192.168.20.x network.

Can this error cause networking problems, whereby you can't even
ping
any
server on the network even though all of the servers are up.

Server Reporting EventID 4319. This server has 3 NIC's but 2 are
disabled.
Running W2K Advance SP3.

Any ideas of what else I can check or do???

Thanks

OK, tried everything but I'm still getting the error.

Last Question: Can this error cause networking problems? Like not being able
to reach servers even though they're up.

Thanks Ozome, I'll double check. But I'm pretty sure there aren't any.

However, I do remember doing a nbtstat and there was one server that had
Administrator in the list. Is there any way of tracking that down?

One thing to check is for a username that is the same as a server or

Difficult to be precise without knowing the sources. But if below link
describes your source and systems, yes it can cause networking problems.
