Event ID 2511. Cant find Share on Server

Discussion in 'Microsoft Windows 2000' started by Terry Schaefer, Oct 16, 2003.

  1. I am getting an error telling me two different shares have
been deleted without deleteing the share points first.
How do I resolve this issue. The share that the error is
pointing to no longer exists. How do I delete the share
    point?

Eact Event Viewer Message on Server:

The server service was unable to recreate the share Doc$
because the directory D:\Doc no longer exists.

    Event ID:2511 Source:Server

    Thanks

  2. Follow these steps from the following knowledge base article.

124170 Event ID 2511 Is Logged After You Delete a Shared Directory
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=124170

To avoid receiving this event message in Windows 2000, stop sharing the
deleted directory in the Computer Mangement Snapin:

    1. Open the Computer Management Snapin from Administrator Tools.
    2. Select Shares under System Tools, Shared Folders.
    3. Select the share to remove and select Stop Sharing.
