The server could not bind to the transport

The knowledge base has this error for NTsp5 and states the
fix is to reinstall sp5!

I've got this on a Windows 2000 laptop that was working,
no problems, and developed this error today. No problems
noted anywhere. Just happened to look for pop mail and
then found it didn't connect. Can't even see nodes on my
own network because the tcp/ip is seemingly corrupt. Any
ideas on how to fix it without "reinstalling sp5" or sp4
and alllllll the other patches following??
 
I fixed it. I uninstalled the TCP/IP and reinstalled. It
fixed it! I probably have to reinstall patches, etc., but
at least it works.

Wish the Knowledge Base were up to date on their documents.
