My server closes down unexpectedly
I've been getting the following error on my server under System Lo
of Event viewer
Application popup:License Warning: Warning
License usage for a product licensed in per server mode is nearing the
maximum number of licenses purchased
Consult the Application event log or License Manager from the
Administrative Tools folder formore information
Type: Informatio
Source: Application popu
Event ID: 2
In the Application log it shows the following
License usage for product SMBServer 5.0 is nearing the maximum number
of per server licenses purchased. Consult License Manager from the
Administrative Tools folder for more information
Type: Warnin
Source: LicenseServic
Event ID: 22
Then about 5 minutes later the server closes down unexpectedly
corrupting the active database
The Event Viewer in the System Log shows
The previous system shutdown at <time> on <date> was unexpected
Type: Erro
Source: evenlo
Event ID: 600
This spontaneous shutdown has happened 4 times since I installed the
server.
This is my server info
OS Name Microsoft Windows 2000 Serve
Version 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 Build 219
My Licensing Mode is Per Server for 30 concurrent connections
I purchased 30 CALs
On the licensing screen I see on PRODUCTS VIE
Per Server Purchased: 3
Per Server Reached: 1
But under Properties Of Windows Server under CLIENTS (PER SEAT)
Purchased: 3
Reached: 2
However, even if the allowed number is reached, surely that should not
crash the server
It should only refuse connection and alert, but not kill the system.
I have checked the MS KB article 326564 and 305138 but the fixes do'nt
apply to systems with SP-4
Does somebody know how to fix this? I could really do with some help
Thanks.
