Event ID 1058 Userenv - KB 314494

After looking at KB 314494, the symptoms as described in the article match
very close to what I am having trouble with. HOWEVER, the kb states that if
the XP machine is part of a domain (TRUE) and Microsoft Distributed File
System (DFS) client is turned off (FALSE is I am looking at the DC) or if I
am supposed to be looking at the same XP machine in question this service is
not present.

Next, there is a note that the \\Active Directory Domain Name\Sysvol needs
to have the Everyone group with special read and Execute NTFS permissions. I
do not have the Everyone group, BUT I have an Authenticated Users group...can
someone explain if this could be causeing my events or not.

Linked to this issue, are several machines including windows 2000 machines
who have Event ID 1000 and 1001 for the userenv errors, all of which are not
taking a policy either a computer or user policy after the first few policies
are applied.

Thanks
