Event Error 10010, SVCHOST.exe

Guest

I am receiving the following error repeatedly over the
last few months. I have also noticed very slow
processing when selecting "Save In", etc. I have
followed the links to find that it is associated with
SVCHOST.exe, by microsoft. It said to contact provider,
but I have been unsuccessful in contacting microsoft
about it. Any ideas on how to resolve it? I am also
getting 7022 error on Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10010
Date: 4/10/2004
Time: 11:33:00 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

To determine the program vendor

Using Regedit, navigate to the following registry value

In the right pane, double-click Default. The Edit String

I did the above mentioned and found the it to be - WIA

Just to let you know you are not alone. I have been trying to track down a solution for some months.

The Event ID: 7022 error appears with several variants. The WIA variant in Event Viewer points the user to KB Article 314862. If you try to download the update, however, you are told that you have Windows XP SP1 installed, which is later than 314862 and this prevents 314862 from installing. On my machine the problem takes 2 minutes to resolve - I do not know how much longer this is than it should be. A blessing is that the problem, whatever it is, only prolongs the boot process as the system appears to run properly once it is complete.

One side effect I have noticed is that if you try to view folders within My Computer then opening is slow the first time. OK after that.

I would interested to know whether your computer has only had Windows XP installed or was it upgraded from an earlier version of Windows. Mine is is dual booting with Windows 98SE and was originally Windows 98SE. If you had another version of Windows did you install a Windows XP Upgrade or full version of Windows XP.

Something else I would be interested to know. Have you encountered any hardware or BIOS problems. Mine is not fully happy with the BIOS and I am getting Event ID: 4 and Event ID: 5 errors before the two errors you are reporting. I tried upgrading the BIOS. The upgrade would not take.
