Evaluation of AV software

I'm in the market for new AV software (posted previously). Several
posters suggested various products, and I would like to review
independent evaluations of the effectiveness of the various products.
I've looked around and found ZDnet's evaluations of AV products, but
they don't seem to review free AV products such as AVG. Hence I'm
worried that there may be some cross-promotional bias in their
evaluations.

Are there any good sites out there to evaluate AV products that run on
Windows XP?

Thanks

Magazines are biased.

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion and if you ask in
the right places, you will get the best answers.

alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

Also make sure what you deliberate on is ICSA certified.

That's because the free programs dont send any MONEY to ZDnet for ads.
Thus, they dont get a review. If they did send money to ZDnet for ads,
then they'd get a "good" review.

BitDefender 9 is very good they have a 30 day trial use. Then the cost
to purchase is about $25.00(US).
