System Volume Information is hidden from view by default, as are many
important system files and folders. It contains your restore points.
Antivirus software can detect viruses stored in restore points, but can't
remove them. This is by design.

When one or more of your restore points become infected, all restore points
become unusable and must be deleted. To do this, turn off system restore on
all drives. Find this at Control Panel > System > System Restore tab. Now
reboot your computer. This will erase all restore points. Now, turn system
restore on again and manually create a restore point.

To be effective, your antivirus software must start with Windows and run
full-time in the background. Always be sure to keep your virus definitions
up to date.
