some people belive that ms should fix the problems rather
than selling you products that fix them like anti spyware,
and av software. so my question is this. if ms opens a
line of av software will it be free? since the problem is
usually caused by microsoft mistakes? lik an enhancement
to the operating system? I mean how many times do you hear
about the new virus for the mac or linux? so if it was
thier mistake do we have to pay to protect ourselves?

If so kudos to Microsoft but beware any av software
company, microsoft vs netshield was a win, and ms vs
mcafee trend and symantec will be a battle.

I wonder when the first virus will come out that exploits
ms av code? and how fast microsoft will have a fix for it?

It certainly would not make ethical sense for microsoft to
charge us for spyware or antivirus protection. It is thier
shotty code that usually leads to these infections.

I am not a linux guru, I am a true microsoft fan, however
I do think that they owe it to the people who purchased
windows and recieved viruses and spyware in the past to
give this away.

also I cannot see why corporations would put the trust of
security in microsofts hands, when microsoft is the
insecure operating systems which they are trying to
protect.

I would want a security company that is not the SAME
company that wrote the software I am trying to protect, if
they didnt get it right the first time, why would they get
it right the second.

Also, I know MS has POCKETS! so anything is possible.
However protecting for viruses and releasing virus
definitions IMMEDIATLY after a virus is released is tough
work. I have never seen microsoft release code in HOURS!!!

OK so I think MSAV, and SPYWARE is a good thing for the
home users, (IF IT IS FREE) but I dont think that they
should try to penetrate the corporate market this is just
silly.

Everyday something new for them just like the other OSs.

Thats why they make Antivirus software for them.

As popularity grows expect more. Try to manage code written to run on more
combinations than you can possibility think about and see how fun that is to
try to keep it where it can run on them. Mac's don't have that many
combinations, Apple has pretty well seen to that (stifle competition) and
Linux doesn't have all the drivers needed to run as many combinations yet.
(note the yet).

Nice rant but try to think it out a little better next time. This ain't the
50's and Wally and the Beav didn't pack 44's to school.

there are over 100,000 viruses for windows, there are
less than 10 for mac and linux added up.

Remind me not to let you count my money.
Mac's (I quit counting at 25 of the Mac only ones) and didn't count the ones
in the list along with PC's at the bottom
http://www.ciac.org/ciac/CIACVirusDatabase.html
Linux - 7 and counting. http://antivirus.about.com/od/linuxunixviruses/

Funny thing is I have several PC's running here and none have been infected
by either viruses or spyware.

I'm not complaining either way, I still make money disinfecting them
whatever the OS.

You made that up. There are many more than 10 Mac and Linux viruses.
Additionally, don't think that Mac, Linux, and Windows are the only OSes out
there. There are many, NetBSD, Sun Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, HP-UX, as well
as many others. Also do recall that computer viruses existed before there
was anything called Windows and before there was even a company called
Microsoft.
