Ethernet Sharing (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE?????)

If you are familiar with Sony PS2, I need answers about
connecting to the internet through a second PC.

I have the cable modem in the bedroom running into a
router which is splitting the signal between 2 PCs, one
in the bedroom and one in the living room. When I
purchase the PS2 (depends on ability to connect), I don't
want to run a second CAT5 from the bedroom into the
living room and I can't use wireless (too much building
interference), I want to connect to PS2 to the livingroom
PC to share its signal.

I'm bouncing 2 ideas, one, find a cable splitter, like a
video or audio splitter and split the signal from the 2nd
PC in 2 or, two, install a 2nd ethernet card and use
Internet Connection Sharing (don't know if that would
even work).

Any suggestions are very welcome. Need to know before I
waste the money to buy console 'with' network adapter.

Hi ceemee
1)Buy a small switch/hub and keep that in the bedroom. Swap the cat5 cable
from the pc into the uplink port of the hub. Get another cat5 for both ps2
and pc and plug them into the hub.
2)You could buy a 2nd nic and install that into the pc, install a network
bridge between the 2 cards and plug the ps2 into this 2nd nic. I don't know
if you need a crossover or plain cat5 cable for the ps2 connection in this
case.

Just buy a ethernet 10/100mbs 5 port switch, and connect
it to cable modem though a cat5 cable, blug in all your
PC's (host and guest)and reconfiger each one's network
connection, the restart all of them one by one, then see.

one more thing, make sure each ethernet guset on your
network have a rj45 jack on it,(or nic card installed).
a 10/100ethernet network interface card only $10-$15).
the ethernet connection will be in a star(*)formation
with the ethernet switch in the middle, and your cable
modem,ps2, host pc,and guest pc's all pluged in.and will
share internet LAN and printer, and other devices.

A standard CAT5 is 4 pair. Ethernet uses 2 pair. You
can use the other 2 pair for your 2nd ethernet. I'm not
sure if anyone sells adaptors (probably), but it's easy
to make them, either with a couple of plugs and a
crimptool, or splicing in the 2nd connector.
