ethernet problem on network

hi i am useing an ethernet cable to network to my laptop. It did work fine
but for some reason it now keeps saying that i dont have the administrators
permission to access the files? This is very annoying as i am the
administrator of my network !!! i think i am ?? well i should be. Any
clues!! My laptop is now showing both machines on workgroups but i cant get
any joy on the server ie my main computer. P s both are running windows XP

ok well i sorted it for myself!!! if anyone is interested. I had the wizard
in norton firewall sort out its settings and it now works fine.
