hi all

This is my first posting to this group.Hope u guys will help.
Well i have two PC1 and PC2
CONFIGURATION

PC1 : Fairly New
P4(1.7 GHz)+128 RAM+WINXP+40GB HDD

PC2: Quite Old
p2(825 MHz)+128RAM + WINXP + 40GB HDD

NIC=Network Interface Card or ethernet card

Now when my pc1 is on and i remove or add NIC then it does not hang
(while the pc is on)but in pc2 it jus hangs when i try to remove or add
a NIC why that so .ALSO i have two nics one is working and another is
damaged but in PC-1 when i boot with the damaged one attached it does
not have a problem booting up but in pc2 when i try to boot up with the
damaged NIC it does not boot up and shows the orange light.my damaged
NIC was working a month ago and then i removed it and kept it aside but
when i added it back it is not working.why that so .my cd rom was not
working a couple of months ago so i removed it and now i have connected
it back and miracaliously it worked.how i confused as to how these
thing happen . i mean how can things stop working when u dont use them
or use them and viceversa .therfore should i wait for my DAMAGED NIC to
work back. is their a possibility.

thnks in advance.

This is a common phenomenon with electronic devices. When they are getting
ready to fail they may work for a short time and then quit working, or may
not work it it's hot outside, or may not work if it's cold outside, or ...

Bottom line - replace it.
