eWhen I shut down my computer a message says that Windows is installing
update 1 of 1. After quite a while it shuts down the computer. However, it
will repeat this every time I shut down. I know that you can shut down
without the update but something is wrong.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Delete or rename the folder c:\windows\system32\catroot2

Reconfigure Automatic Update.Stop it and then restart it.

You may also choose the following option insead of Automatic Update:-

'Notify me but don't automatically download or install them'

see:-
