Establishing a trust over a router??

LS,

I have this little problem I really need some help with. I
will try to put down our problem in as much detail as
possible..

We are installing a fresh Windows 2000 domain. We are
currently running a Windows NT4 domain. We do not wish to
upgrade the NT4 domain.
The NT4 domain is in VLAN1: 192.168.200.0/22 (supernetting)
The W2K domain is in VLAN2: 172.18.3.0/24 (subnetting)

The CISCO switches route between the VLANS

To have been able to create a two-way nontransitive trust
bewteen the two domains by adding ip-helpers on the ciscos
and using LMHOST files on the PDC and on the DC contianing
1 single #DOM line..
So far so good...

Now I type \\NT4server1\c$ from the W2k domain and I am
welcomed with a Invalid Username / password message.. If I
enter a username / password from the NT4 domain, I gain
access...

We tested this scenario on a single subnet in our testing
lan, and all worked fine.

So we think it has to do with the cisco-machines..

In short: Are we missing something? Or what is the correct
way to establish a full trust between a W2K domain and a
NT4 domain, across a router?

Thanx in advance

I established a trust in a similar way with two cisco
2500's. You need two entries in the lmhost files
something like this
10.0.0.1 PDCNAME #PRE #DOM:DOMAIN-NAME
10.0.0.1 "DOMAIN-NAME \0x1b" #PRE
see Q180094 for more info. The spacing and number of
characters is important.
