"EssentialPIM Free is the award-winning, absolutely free personal
information manager. Supported by a large community of users, EPIM has
been widely acknowledged as the best personal information management
system on any desktop or USB flash. It is not bloatware and has no
spyware or adware."
New in EssentialPIM 1.5.3:
* CSV Import significant speed increase
* Faster Schedule module display
* Languages sorted alphabetically
* EssentialPIM now remembers the latest used module when
minimizing in the system tray
* The Country field length is increased in the Contacts module
* Improved test database
* Known bugs fixed (all? there were a view annoying ones)

Download (1.3 Mb):

(there is a version for USB sticks).
Has anyone looked at this PIM, which is new to me:
http://www.otakpim.com/
There is no list of features but it has contacts/address book,
calendar, diary, Treepad like notes, To Do list, password manager,
bookmark manager, search. It looks rather promising (but can't be used
on "low" resolution (800 x 600) screens).
It's about time to select a PIM which will serve me for a long time,
and I have narrowed the choice down to these two, after having looked
at about everything I could find.
Last ones to bite the dust in my test lab: Chaos Manager (although I
like its simplicity) and Time & Chaos.
