I have an emachine XP home computer which has recently become very erratic.
Sometimes it turns on normally, but after a while it locks up or shuts itself
down. Usually it will not restart until the next day, although sometimes it
will restart immediately, then either lock up or shutdown shortly afterwards.
In looking at the event viewer, I found a single instance of the following
message:
Faulting application snoe.exe, ver 2.9.2007.0, faulting module snsvc.dll ver
2.9.2007.0, fault address 0x0005c3a4
I have no idea if the above message has any relation to the problem
described at the beginning of this post.
Also there is a MS pop up saying:
"Power surge on hub port
a USB device has malfuntiioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub
port. you should disconnect the device."
and there is a question mark in front of one of the 6 listed USB devices,
but it is described as "an unknown USB device"
(MS, that description is a really big help!) The computer is now at a
different location and there are no USB devices plugged in so also unsure
whether that message is relevant but it did first appear at the time the
computer starting erractically
Can anyone shed any light on this?
