errors opening excel files - file path broken up

Ok, I have a wierd one.

I have a user that when she sometimes opens excel files from either an
attachment or her desktop, excel pops up with several errors before actually
opening the file. This doesn't happen all the time, but when she showed it
to me, it happened everytime.

Excel complains of not being able to find the file, but its breaking up the
path.

First it complains of not finding "C:/Document.xls".
Then it complains of not finding "and.xls"
then "settings.xls"
etc, etc, etc.

Has anyone ever seen this or maybe steer me in the right direction? I can't
find a single thing on the web about this issue.

Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
the file in windows explorer:

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

Maybe one of these will work for you.
