Errors on DVD drive

I have a Sony Vaio desktop that came with Windows ME. I
had it replaced with Windows 2000. All systems work well
except my DVD drive. I keep getting error messages such
as:
Error PL 4013, playback failed due to a problem with the
video system. You may be using an unsupported display mode
or your system may not have a working decoder.

Or sometimes I get one that says:
Cannot play because of illegal audio or video settings.

I have looked into the system and it says the decoder is
being recognized and is working properly.

Anyone got an idea what I can do?

Make sure you have the correct video drivers loaded. You
might also try re-installing your DVD software (WinDVD,
PowerDVD ??)
