Errors in connecting to POP mailbox

I am using Outlook 2003. I have three mail accounts connecting to the same mail server. (They are true separate accounts, and NOT aliases of the one account). Each account is set up in a separate Send/receive group and each Group has a different time interval for downloading mail.
The error I am getting, is a random "cannot connect to the POP mail server" error. It happens on all three accounts, not at regular intervals, and if I immediately do a manual Send and Receive for that particular account, it connects at once to the mail server.
Thunderbird, is set up in exactly the same way, with three different account all set at different time intervals for accessing the mail server, has no problems at all accessing the mail server on all three accounts, and I get NO error messages.

Can anyone possibly think of a reason why Outlook should be behaving in this way? It's getting quite frustrating.

It may help diagnosis if you were to enable logging in Outlook and post the
contents of the OPMLog.log file.

Thanks - I've just enabled that (didn't know it was there!) and we'll see
what it comes up with. I'll leave it a day or two to get a good go at it.

Just had a "could not connect to POP server" error for one of the accounts.
Here's the transcript of the logfile for that particular synchronisation.

So any idea why the error?
(I've removed any references to Yahoo mail because I've NEVER had any error
messages for Yahoo Mail)
