When I open window mail, I recieve this error message
Account: 'pop.windstream.net', Server: 'pop.windstream.net', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR An authentication mechanism MUST be entered',
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

I also get it when I try to send/recive. I had AVG 7.5 installed, but closed
it after reading threads. I have tried some of the other solutions, but none
seem to work.

Check your settings as per this page, it describes OE settings, but WM is
the same settings.

Pay particular attention to Point 8 in the tutorial.

Thank you for the link. the only thing that helped was to remove and
reinstall the account. I did that for my laptop, but should I also reinstall

btw, get AVG installed again ASAP !!

Part way in to the Install, choose Custom Install, and disable mail
scanning.
