error with parallel dongle

I'm using a program that requires a rs232 key to run the
program properly. Installing the product gives an error.
The event viewer gives the following Errors:

The Haspnt service failed to start due to the following
error:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O
device error.

The hardlock service failed to start due to the following
error:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O
device error.

The app works well under Windows NT. The should be WinXP
compatible.
Can anyone help me please?
 
Go to the manufacturers website to see if there is an
update for Windows XP. Best advice I can give with the
information given.
 
I fixed the problem by deinstalling hardlock drivers and
reistalling them.
But anyways Thanks.
