"Error: Windows media player cannot play this file"

"Error: Windows media player cannot play this file. Connect to the internet
or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to
play the file again"

I get this error message everytime trying to open up a file on the internet
to stream and listen to. Any suggestions?

The format may be incompatible with your Media Player.
Open WMP>Tools>Options/File types tab
If WMP is your default player, check all blocks>click Apply and OK

Open WMP
Tools> Options
File Types Tab Deselect all file types and apply Click OK
Open WMP
Tools> Options
File Types Tab Select all file types and apply
Go to the Player Tab and at the bottom select connect to the internet (over
rides all other commands)
Apply and OK - Regards Welsh Pablo
