Error when viewing videos on media player

Everyonce in a while while playing a video file/DVD my screen goes blank and
sometimes returns to the video or goes to a blank screen and freezes with a
message saying Display driver R300 has stopped respoding and was successfully
recovered. So I sent a report saying that it is being researched but is there
anyother way to fix this?
