trying to upgrade from WinXP Home SP2 to Pro and just after the process
checks for updates online, I get a message that the file ajcjxydx.sys could
not be copied. I have tried to google this file, search the current
instalation folder for it, and even searching TechNet but it does not show up
anywhere except in the error message. I do have the option to skip it, but
I'm not sure of the outcome since I can not find any information on it. Any
assistance would be appriciated.

I'm getting exactly the same error message. My post is a bit further down,
posted yesterday.

Thier is no "upgrade" operation from home to xp pro,the upgrade is for
older windows OS..To install pro from xp home, one must boot to xp pro cd,
select,install xp,new copy,delete the partition (home),create one,then xp
formats & installs auto....

Thats not correct

Check for updates on line? does this mean you have successfully updated &
you are in winupdate?
ajcjxydx.sys doesn't sound like a valied win file to me. Have you run AV &
malaware scans the latter several different apps?

Actually I'm still at the beginning of the upgrade process. I get this just
after it goes out and checks for updated "setup" files. On another attempt I
chose not to do that part, but ended up with the same error, but with a
different file name listed.
I actually tried the insatallation media in a test box I have, from a bare
metal installation and recieved errors after the reboot and it went back to
start copying data from the CD, so I have determined that the media is bad in
my case.

Is there a way to get replacement media from Microsoft?

Andrew please stop spreading your outright lies and other
misinformation around these newsgroups.

ajcjxydx.sys is an unknown file name and a Google search of websites
and newsgroups fails to find any references to it other than your
posting.

I suspect that your computer has malware of some kind installed on it
and that needs to be removed before you try the upgrade again. See

Good luck
