Recently when I tried to format my cd, we had a power outage and my computer
didn't get to finish the formating. Now, whenever I insert my Windows Xp boot
disc to hopefully install a lovely fresh version of Windows it locks up, and
the screen goes blank. I am currently using a SATA drive and I would like to
know if there is anyway of formatting this disc without the boot disc? If not
is there anyway of connecting my SATA drive to a much older motherboard?

Thanks,

You should be able to access the SATA drive from DOS, provided the mobo has
an up-to-date BIOS. If there is no floppy, a USB stick or CD will often serve
the purpose instead, rovided the option to boot from CD or ' other device' is
turned on in the settings.

FDISK will probably do the job of removing the faulty partition, if not then
try Ranish Partition Manager.

http://www.bootdisk.com is a useful resource. A Win98SE bootdisk is probably
best.
