i was hijacked by some virus and it is fixed now, but
htere are some problems remaining...

1. when i doubleclick a .txt or .log file i get an error
message that says it cannot find the file or the path is
incorrect, but when i right click and choose 'open with'
notepad. it opens just fine.

2. photoshop no longer keeps a history of past files that
were saved, it used to remember the filename, but now lists
the full directory path in the save cache/history, and wont
recognize certain file folders.

thanks, any info would help :)

What values do we have in the following registry keys and their sub-keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile

If you have access to a system that works correctly you might want to compare the values on the working system with the
ones on the system that is not working correctly.
