error when installing directx 9

When trying to install directx 9, error comes up "this
version of windows is incompatable"
I've downloaded directx 9 several times from microsoft,
and always get the same result.
I'm using xp pro with service pack 1
If somebody has a solution, please email me...I don't get
back to this forum often.

Hi,

Does the error message mention Logo testing? If so:

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 wintrust.dll

If that doesn't help:

Correct the Cryptographic Service Error Message
