error when copying to DVD drive

When I try to copy a folder to my DVD drive, I get the following message,
"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this folder. What do you
want Windows to do? Retry, skip, Cancel.

A new window also opens above this message saying "Copying...and the folder
name." But there is nothing apparently happening.

What can I do to find the problem with Windows copying and fix it?

Has the DVD been formatted so you can use it that way?

Windows can't write to a DVD drive. You need Nero or Easy CD Creator.
