Error when any instance of IE closes

Any ideas on this? Whenever any instance (incl. popups)
of IE closes I get this message:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00185070


etc etc.

Sometimes closing this message trashes all browser
instances too...

not happy...

any assistance appreciated
