Error / slow log off

N

Nigel Taylor

After applying a group policy to my XP machine from the domain it has
increased the time it takes to log off.

In the event viewer i have noticed the error message

Source: Userenv
EventId: 1524

Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use by
other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to rectify this problem?

Nigel,

Reseach indicates that in the past, this error has occured due to other
applications having open handles to the registry during a shutdown.

In most recent cases, this was caused by Anti-Virus software. Is it
possible that you installed the software at the same time as updateing the
GPO? We would need to test this by possibly removing AV and seeing if the
error does indeed go away or stay the same.

I may just be coincidental that the GPO addition would cause this behavior.
